Self Defense As a Response To Antisemitism

Krav Maga was established as a pragmatic and intuitive system for self-defense and hand-to-hand combat, crafted by Imi Lichtenfeld (also known as Imi Sde-Or) during the late 1930s and early 1940s. Its inception was driven by the necessity for Jewish communities in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, to protect themselves from the surge of fascist and anti-Semitic aggression in the period leading up to World War II.

Now, in 2024, as antisemitism once again becomes a prominent issue, the acceptance of aggression towards Jews signals a dangerous recurrence of history. We are called not to confrontation but to a stance of self-love and preservation, acknowledging our duty to protect our roots, heritage, and identity.

In our quest for a world harmonious and peaceful, the importance of being prepared for unforeseen circumstances becomes clear. While our ethos is firmly anti-violence, the knowledge and practice of self-defense—both physical and mental—prepare us to wisely and confidently diffuse threats. Our philosophy is not to live by the sword, but to be ready to take it up if necessary.

Recent times have highlighted a bitter reality: safety is a proactive responsibility, not a passive guarantee. The realization that we are our own primary protectors underlines the importance of the “Never Again” pledge in our collective conscience—a commitment that urges us to not only remember but act.

Acknowledging the inadequacy of past efforts, we now focus on empowerment, stepping out of the shadows and taking charge of our protection. This workshop, led by Tsahi Shemesh—a seasoned mentor in Krav Maga and self-preservation techniques—embodies more than physical training. It represents a dedication to standing firm, safeguarding ourselves and our loved ones, and honoring our pledge with integrity and valor.

Join us to lay down a foundation of peace, not merely through hope but through decisive action.

This workshop is conducted by Tsahi Shemesh, the founder of Krav Maga Experts.
